A Lazy Listener

We just moved back to Austin from the NYC area, I haven't lived here since 1992, so a lot of things have changed--for the better. I haven't stopped listening to music, but I stopped seeking it out and worse, I was just listening to what I happened to stumble upon.

Moving back to Austin has inspired me to catch up on music missed over the past few years. Where do I begin?

I think I should start with a couple of things that I downloaded from iTunes a few months ago. I promise I will always listen to the whole album, not just a few songs. I think that as great as it is to be able to download music off of iTunes, it has killed the art of making an album to a certain extent. Can't you hear an entire generation saying, "Why pay for the entire album when I can buy the song that I like for 99 cents?"

For tomorrow, I will listen to Life Like by The Rosebuds. I downloaded the album a few months ago after hearing "Another Way In" (Track 6) on the John in the Morning Show on KEXP. An excellent source for new (and old) alternative music--especially for me, a lazy listener.
