Easily Distracted

Today is the second day of my project. As usual, my long term plans for the blog have already changed. I was going to listen to a few albums and comment on them and see where things would take me. However, the Austin City Limits Music Festival or "ACL" is coming up very soon and there are so many artists I need to reconnect with before I go. The Delays announced their tour today and The Dandy Warhols are coming to Austin on September 9th and I need to get to know their latest album a little better before they perform. I am going to be busy!

On the agenda for tomorrow: The Dandy Warhols.

As promised, I listened to the album, Life Like, by the Rosebuds. The album was great and after listening to the entire thing 4 or 5 times, I really like it. It vacillates from slightly upbeat to dark, layered and brooding--right up my alley. The album is full of beautiful and interesting melodies and each song, though clearly unique, flows into another. Of course, their Track 6, "Another Way In" brought me to the album, but it isn't my favorite track, although I still really like it.

My other favorites are track 1 "Life Like," which has beautiful harmonies and track 7 "Concordia Military Club," which has a very haunting melody. On track 8,"Hello Darlin," they whistle for quite a long introduction which is a refreshing sound on the latter part of the album and somehow manages to tie everything together.

As usual, I am looking for your opinion on The Rosebuds or anything thing else that seems relevant.

I would write more, but as you can see, I am easily distracted.

  1. Hey,
The blog looks great and sounds like an interesting project. Congratulations on getting it going. I have been a pretty lazy listener myself lately and have recently been thinking that I need to make more of an effort to keep up on the music front. I don't know about the Dandy Warhols' latest album, but I can tell you that Courtney Taylor Taylor helped design a pair of kick ass boots for John Fleuvog aptly called the Dandy Warhol Boot, check it out.
